Fritz Wood
I found my calling in life—helping veterinarians & their businesses succeed—by accident. I went to school at the University of Kansas, where I earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business administration (1986). I spent the first nine years of my career as a management consultant for a global consultancy. One of my clients was a pet nutrition company, through which I was introduced to the veterinary industry and to more and more veterinarians.
I wanted to work with smaller businesses, and I thought these vets deserved to do better. They were great to work with, and they had pure motives. But many of their businesses weren’t doing as well as they could. I knew I could help.
I began to focus exclusively on the veterinary profession and started conducting research on productivity and attributes of high-performing practices (thank you, Dr. Chuck Wayner). Time flies! I’ve now worked with veterinarians for over 30 years! In addition to private consulting and training, I present at continuing education meetings, sales meetings, training sessions and at several veterinary colleges. I also serve on industry boards and write on both veterinary practice management and personal finance.
